I love exploring the possible intersections of technology and information, with the intent to improve or expedite knowledge sharing.
One of my recent epiphanies was related to the difficulty of efficiently reviewing resumes, especially technical resumes. Recruiters and managers spend huge amounts of time reviewing resumes (at least they used too) and automated tools have attempted to “mine” resumes to simplify the review process.
For your consideration, I offer the graphical resume (3 pages!)
A 2nd version of the graphical resume here (3 pages.)
And a hybrid one page resume combining the best of the graphical and traditional resume formats!
I am excited to hear what you think about this idea. Acknowledgements to Tableau Software, the tool used to create these examples!

Great concept. I really like the format and how easy it is to quickly see qualifications. I need to consider it for my skillset document.
I think you’re on to something. Although not a lot of firms are hiring right now, a lot of resumes are flying around. So having a way to visually process the avalanche of resumes for just a few positions would be terrific.
I wonder if this would be something that the big resume websites – or even something like LinkedIn – could benefit from. You as a hiring manager could specify the kinds of categories you’re interested in and then the application could filter to those people and present each person’s background visually, in the same way on the same level playing field. That way you could see and understand a lot of resumes very quickly.
Of course, once you have the initial visual screen, you’d want to drill down to the details – the actual written resume – to get more insight.
I love this idea. I also like to think of my ‘google results’ as my body of work as well. I would love to have 10 really great citations that show up when someone “google’s” my name. Unfortunately, it’s a little hard to manage when any Tweet, Facebook profile or who knows what can show up in your results.
This is idea is great on multiple levels: a) it is succint and to the point making it easy to digest; b) it shows off some of your analytical background (though may not be great for non-analytical jobs); c) easily searchable; d) easily cross referenced.
thanks,
Jeff
These are awesome, esp. #1 and #3. On the latter, I especially love the blatant use of keywords for search engines. I’ve come close to doing that myself, but always taken them out at the last minute for fear of seeming too technical — you’ve inspired me to overcome my fear!
I really believe that the intelligence application of graphs to many day to day needs will lead to much simpler communication of complex information. Thanks for your feedback! Please keep it coming!
Dear Stephen
I am impressed with your approach.
I have tried to do something similar in my own website http://www.IndiaRecruiter.net. I plan to come out with V 2.0 in a few months and would highly appreciate you suggestions. Regards

Nice implementation. The idea of a trying a graphical or graphical/hybrid resume format never crossed my mind, but it makes total sense.
